Global Microcredit Has Great Potential
David Leonhardt (congrats David!) from the NYTimes.com has a conversation with Dean Karlan and Jacob Appel, co-authors of a new book, "More Than Good Intentions."
First question:
First question:
You write that microcredit — small loans to poor people — “has generated more enthusiasm and support than perhaps any other development tool in history.” You agree that microcredit has great potential, but you also suggest that it’s been oversold. What’s known at this point about how it does, and does not, improve people’s lives?Read more here.

Chart Your Export Strategy: Global Strategic Alliance Is a Choice
If you've gotten about as far as you can on your own in charting your export strategy, it's a good time to consider joining forces with another company of similar size and market presence that is located in a foreign country where you are already doing business, or would like to. That's called forming a global strategic alliance.
Here's how it works and what it can and cannot do for you.

Harry and the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS Convertible
As one of the leading automotive journalist in the nation that was also an award winning new car dealer for over twenty-five years Harry recognizes automotive greatnes. Harry is afforded to ride and drive all of the greatest vehicles from the worlds automotive manufactures so that he can tell his millions upon millions of his Car Concerns Radio listening audience.
The 2011 Camaro RS convertible gets additional body bracing to make up for the structural rigidity. Its canvass soft top has an acoustical liner and a glass rear window with a defogger; it comes in tan or black. Power operation is standard and involves the release of an overhead lever and the press of a single button, which also lowers the side windows.
Like the 2011 Camaro coupe, the 2011 Camaro convertible seats four, though it has a smaller trunk. Neither trunk is voluminous, with the coupe's at 11.3 cubic feet and the convertible's at 10.2 cubic feet with the top. That shrinks to just 7.9 cubic feet with the top lowered because it folds into the forward portion of the cargo hold. A flexible tonneau cover is standard or optional, depending on the convertible trim line. And an accessory windscreen is available from Chevy dealers. Designed to stop backdrafts with the top town, the windscreen occupies space over the rear seat, rendering it inaccessible to passengers and turning the Camaro convertible into a two-seater.
Recorded on April 19, 2011 using a Harry Flip Video Cam.

Take a look at what's happening with study abroad programs. To experience life, you have to put yourself out there, take chances, minimize serious risks (hazards) and still move forward on great ideas. Resiliency and adaptability helps here too.

America's Favorite Pies: Are They Exportable?
I visited a couple of these places online (refer below) to see whether they ship anywhere in the world. Many ship within the United States.
Think there's an export opportunity here?
If the companies can freeze product and ship safely locally, which many are, there's a good chance they can take their product across borders (a little more expensive on the shipping but to customer overseas, I suspect they'd be willing to pay to try an unforgettable American pie).

You Have To Drive The 2011 Volvo S60 T6 AWD!
Volvo as a car manufacture is becoming the shining star of automobile manufacturing. By the time the 2011 Volvo S60 reaches the U.S. this summer, Volvo might be Chinese, Swedish, American or none of the above. This car could be a final fling for Ford, a brave new dawn for the Chinese Geely or the last gasp of a Swedish giant.
But whoever wins the paternity suit will look to the 2011 Volvo S60 T6 AWD as the car to reestablish Volvo as a genuine, premium alternative to the German Big Three. Quirky and emotive, the 2011 Volvo S60 T6 AWD is targeted squarely at the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class.
In Europe, the 2011 Volvo S60 will be offered with a broad range of engines, but only the Volvo S60 T6 AWD will be crossing the pond. Equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 and all-wheel drive, it will battle the BMW 335i for a piece of the market.
It's a lot to ask. Volvo is already in a fight for its life, and now it finds itself going up against the automotive equivalent of President Obama winning a second term.

Dolce & Gabbana Sees New Era of Glamour For Youth in China
With your business, how will you capitalize on it?
Dolce and Gabbana to Expand in China
by Laurie Burkitt

Like other designers, such as American Diane Von Furstenberg and Italian Miuccia Prada, Messrs. Dolce and Gabbana have made multiple expeditions to China to understand what is driving China's shoppers. What they've found in their tours across Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, is that Chinese consumers are far flashier than their American counterparts, said Mr. Dolce.Read the entire article published in The Wall Street Journal:
"Chinese are eccentric, and they will wear the flowers and the lace," said Mr. Dolce, explaining that the industry as a whole has largely catered to consumers who wanted plain and frill-less fashion. "Chinese aren't afraid to be more," he said.
